Our Mission

The Nevada County All Veterans Stand Down is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) Veteran Benefit Organization and is not organized for the private gain of any one person. Our main purpose is to educate and inform of resources and help provide services to any eligible U.S. Military veteran, senior veterans, disabled veterans, veteran’s spouses and dependents; without regard to race, color, national origin, creed, age, sex or religion.

Stand Down is a term used during war to describe the practice of removing combat troops from the field and taking care of their basic needs in a safe area.

Nevada County All Veterans Stand Down holds an annual two-day free event for all veterans at the Nevada County Fairgrounds linking veterans to local and regional resources. The 2017 Nevada County Veterans Stand Down is scheduled for October 6th & 7th at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in the Northern Mines building. All Nevada and Sierra County Veterans are welcome.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the organizer, who gave us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.
